North Bay puts in a bid for the 2018 World Women’s Curling Championships

Curling Canada is now considering whether to award North Bay the 2018 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship. City Hall and the local curling club have submitted their bid to curling’s governing body and expect a decision by the end of August.

City councillor Mark King says the event, which will attract thousands of people, could bring up to $8 million to the city. As for the odds of winning the bid, co-chair of the organizing committee Rick Miller is pretty optimistic.

TSN would broadcast the games which would be played out of Memorial Gardens.
