The federal government is providing funding to the Town of Blind River for a new accessible bus.
Mayor Sally Hagman says a federal investment of $160,000 through the Rural Transit Solutions Fund, will support the purchase of a new bus with the town contributing another $40,000 towards the cost.
Hagman adds the town is incredibly grateful for the support, which means residents will be able to access grocery, medical and social appointments safely.
She says it will provide consistent and dependable transportation for those without access to private transit, offering greater independence and convenience.
Hagman adds the new bus is expected to arrive in the fall.
