Elliot Lake Council will discuss the results of the survey discussing public input

A draft document focusing on how the municipality could work with local citizens is expected to be completed by March following a report to Elliot Lake’s Ad Hoc Procedural Bylaws Committee by consultants hired to assist in the review.
The committee held a meeting on January 30th to discuss the results of a survey, which received a high number of responses from the community.
Consultants, Clerks on Call, stated their task included assisting the municipality with updates to their Procedure By-laws and then providing the training to council members.
One of the results of the survey is how the public wants to see the return to a question period, which a previous council eliminated and the process now in place only allows citizens to comment for two minutes but with no questions.
The consultants will now work on delivering a new, comprehensive bylaw to meet both the needs of the council and the public for discussion by the council.
