Three people are facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 6 in Espanola.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Berkley Parisien says on Monday evening police on patrol were alerted to a stolen license plate by the Automated License Plate Recognition system, so a traffic stop was initiated, and the three occupants arrested.
Additionally, she adds police seized suspected cocaine, fentanyl, around $5,000, an axe and a knife.
As a result, Parisien says a 51-year-old man from Sudbury, a 53-year-old man from Dokis First Nation and a 48-year-old woman from M’Chigeeng First Nation faced various possession charges among others.
She adds the three are to appear in Espanola court on March 10th.

Possession of property obtained by Crime under $5,000
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

Use plate not authorized for vehicle
Driving while under suspension
Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
Drive – no insurance
The 52-year-old passenger, is charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
The second passenger, the 48-year-old, is charged with:
Obstruct Peace Officer
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice
