It was a tough weekend for the Espanola Paper Kings with two back-to-back losses.
The Powassan Voodoos scored an eight to four victory over the Kings in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Friday at the Powassan Sportsplex.
The Soo Thunderbirds built-up a three-goal lead in the second period, holding off the Kings before eventually prevailing 4-3 Sunday in the Soo.
A couple of second period goals helped pace the Blind River Beavers to a 5-1 triumph over the Soo Eagles Saturday at the Blind River Community Centre and on Sunday, the Beavers also got a couple of goals to help them defeat the Vikings 4-1 in a home game.
