Several multiple shoplifting and theft incidents in Elliot Lake, Spanish, Massey, and Serpent River First Nation have resulted in an arrest.
East Algoma OPP Constable Phil Young says the spree of shoplifting began back on July third with a shoplifting complaint at a pharmacy in Elliot Lake.
He says two days later, the OPP received a complaint of the theft of two lawnmowers from a hardware store in Massey, liquor from a store in Spanish, groceries from a store on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake, a lawn chair, and flowers from another business in the city, and the attempted theft of a barbecue from a Serpent River First Nation business.
Young says the next day OPP received a report of the theft from an Elliot Lake grocery store.
He says last Friday, they arrested a 31-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie charged the individual with five counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime, and one charge of robbery with violence.
He adds the accused has been remanded into custody and the OPP was able to recover nearly all of the stolen property.
