Student named one of Canada’s top young citizens

An A.B. Ellis Public School Grade 5 student is among Canada’s top young citizens. Julia Perlin who had won the Young Citizens Award at the Sudbury Regional Heritage Fair, will now compete in Canada’s History for Kids’ Young Citizens video contest. Perlin’s Heritage Fair project on the “Espanola Bridges” included a video she made about the 1952 Espanola bridge collapse over the Spanish River.Once online voting is finished a panel of judges will choose six recipients to attend the Governor General’s History Awards in Ottawa in the fall. The winners will have their videos premiered at the National History Forum. Voting closes Friday, July 11th. To vote, visit www.youngcitizens.ca
