Espanola Fire Crew Defends Their Chief

It was not smooth sailing for Espanola Fire Chief, Mike Pichor, this week when he made a presentation to council about what he sees as the needs for the fire department.
Espanola CAO Cynthia Townsend told The Moose yesterday that council has commissioned an engineering assessment of the existing firehall, which will be completed early next year.
She adds the report is expected to determine the options.
However, there is some concern about how the Chief’s integrity was questioned at the Committee of the Whole Meeting, which is not streamed online as per council procedure.
Pichor has long said that either a new fire hall or expansion is needed.
However, there was some question about the numbers he was presenting to council.
Members of his department, all volunteers, produced this video to explain their viewpoint and to defend their chief, which is available for viewing on our Moose FM CJJM Espanola Facebook page.
We will have more on the story next Monday.
