If Ontario politicians agree, we could see buildings made from wood as high as 14 stories. That’s the proposal from Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli. Two years ago the government adopted an earlier proposal from Fedeli to increase the height of wood-made buildings from four stories to six. Fedeli says if more mid-rise buildings can be made from wood, it will further boost forestry jobs in Northern Ontario. Fedeli adds because wood-frame buildings are cheaper and more energy efficient, construction costs fall.
