Man dies in Mississagi River fishing mishap

An autopsy will be carried out on an elderly Blind River man after a fatal fishing excursion on the Mississiagi River.   Seventy-six-year-old John Collin died when the small boat he was fishing in capsized throwing everyone overboard.  A man and woman with Collins swam back to shore.  An OPP officer from the East Algoma detachment swam out to Collin’s however he was pronounced dead in hospital.  No one wore any of the lifejackets that were in the boat.  Police say there is nothing suspicious about the incident which took place close to noon on Saturday.
