Early enrolment shows that the Rainbow District School Board has 13-thousand, 263 students. However the number is unofficial and the board will release the final count by the end of October. The largest number of students at almost 8,600 are in the board’s elementary schools. About a third of this group is taking French Immersion. Close to 4,700 students are in high school but French Immersion here accounts for less than 15 percent of the student population. The numbers include the schools on Manitoulin and in the Espanola area.
