For the second time this summer, the Queensway Motel in Espanola has caught fire and police say the cause is suspicious in nature. Wednesday’s fire broke around 2:00am and firefighters were still on the scene four hours later looking for hot spots. Meanwhile Fire Chief Mike Pichor says there’s a lot of damage to the motel interior and pegs the damage estimate at $250,000.

The Queensway Motel was closed for the summer when a fire in July in the owner’s living quarters caused a lot of smoke and water damage. The cause in this latest blaze is unknown for now. Since June, Espanola firefighters have dealt with six fires.
