St. Joseph Island triathlon cancelled

Low numbers have forced organizers to cancel next month’s triathlon on St. Joseph Island. At this time last year, about 100 people had registered for the annual event, but this year just more than 50 people have signed up so far.

Organizers say that number is too small to hold the event because the triathlon incurs a lot of expenses. They plan to contact past participants to find out why they decided to skip the event this time.

This would have been the 13th straight year for the triathlon.
