Gore Bay has come together to help the displaced residents of an apartment complex in the community.
According to the release, the Red Cross as well as local individuals and businesses are all assisting the residents of the 10-unit Woods Lane apartment complex in Gore Bay, which suffered major damage on Tuesday evening.
The community hall was opened by the town to provide assistance, and the Red Cross was on site to provide needs assessment and emergency support, such as food, making arrangements for lodging, clothing and personal care items for all those displaced in the fire and other necessities.
No one was injured in the blaze, but the cause has yet to be released.
Most of the residents are being temporarily housed at hotels in Mindemoya until permanent housing is found, thanks to the efforts of the property owners, Ontario Aboriginal Housing Service and the Red Cross.
