Playoffs around the corner, tight races to the finish – NOJHL

The race is on for the playoffs for the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
The Powassan Voodoos clinched themselves a playoff spot with a hard-fought 4-3 result over the Espanola Paper Kings Friday night at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.
League Commissioner Robert Mazzuca says Espanola can still finish eighth and get into the playoffs, but they need to get past Iroquois Falls.
The Storm is one point up on the Paper Kings for that last spot.
Iroquois Falls has two games left losing out yesterday to the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 3-2 at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
Espanola also only has two games left.
And, as for the Beavers, the Hearst Lumberjacks won 5-3 victory Saturday night at the Blind River Recreation Centre.
But, Owen King collected his 50th goal of the season, as part of a 6-2 triumph by the Beavers over the French River Rapids in a Sunday matinee on home ice.
