The Township of Huron Shores council has decided to make appointments to fill the vacancies of mayor and council.
At last night’s meeting, it was indicated that a councillor was interested in filling the vacancy left by former Mayor Matthew Seabrook’s resignation on January 8th.
The council then passed a motion to fill the vacancy from within the council.
Councillors will have some time to decide whether to run and will declare their interest at the January 29th meeting, when a decision is expected.
Council also passed a second motion that the vacancy left due to the resignation of Ward One Councillor Roger Mulligan on January 13th and the second vacancy as a result of filling the mayor’s chair, will be filled with a call of interest out to the public.
The Council will meet with candidates and fill the vacancies at a meeting set for March 5th.
Anyone interested in sitting on the council must be 18 years of age or older, a resident or landowner of the township and be eligible to vote.
