Police have arrested and charged one person in connection with an attempted murder in Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation.
OPP Constable Rob Lewis says back on August 4th, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for service on Archie’s Road in Sagamok First Nation. He says one person with serious but non-life-threatening injuries was transported to hospital by emergency medical services.
He adds because of the investigation, a 28-year-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been arrested and faces several charges including attempted murder, assault, forcible confinement, and more.
Lewis says the accused is being held in custody and is to appear in Espanola court at a later date.
The charges are as follows:
Attempt to commit murder, section 239(1)(b)
Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle, section 267(c)
Assault causing bodily harm – spousal, section 267(c)
Aggravated assault – spousal, section 268
Forcible confinement, section 279(2)
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal, section 264.1(1)(a)
Mischief – domestic, section 430(4)
Theft under $5,000, section 334(b)
Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b)
Failure to comply with undertaking, section 145(4)(a) – six counts
