New English Public school being built in Blind River given a regional name

Trustees of the Algoma District School Board haveĀ approved a new name for their new JK to grade 12 school that is to be built in Blind River this year.

Trustee Debbie Shamas,Ā who representsĀ Blind River,Ā says the school will be called Three Rivers.Ā

Shamas saysĀ itĀ was chosen because it includes the Mississauga River, Blind River,Ā and Serpent River, the three languages of English, French,Ā and Ojibway,Ā and the three communities of Iron Bridge, Blind River,Ā and Serpent River that the school will serve.Ā

The $50.5-million schoolĀ is a shared spacedĀ withĀ Conseil scolaireĀ du Grand Nord and will be builtĀ at 158 YoungfoxĀ Road in Blind River.Ā
