Damaged transport taken off the road

East Algoma OPP has taken a damaged transport off the road.

Constable Beverly Gauthier says on Monday afternoon, around 1 pm, police responded to multiple calls about a tractor-trailer traveling on Highway 17 with its trailer wall damaged.

She says the calls came from the Iron Bridge area and officers tracked it to Blind River where they pulled over the vehicle observing it had considerable damage on its left side.

She says the investigation determined the driver had slid sideways and hit a rock cut on Highway 17 somewhere between Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie but did not report the collision to the police.

Gauthier says a 50-year-old driver from Kitchener has been charged with failing to report an accident and the vehicle was parked and taken off the road.
