The fundraising has begun for the Manitoulin Secondary School robotics to compete at the international competition next year in Houston, Texas.
The Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club teamed up earlier this month for a golf tournament to raise funds for the school’s robotic teams that came in the top six in the world at last year’s robotics competition.
Alexandra Wilson-Zegil, a member of the Manitoulin Metal Robotics FRC 6865 team says the golf tourney was successful in raising $8,500 to offset the costs of travelling to the competition that attracts thousands of students from around the world.
She says the golf competition had a total of 20 teams take part, and the Lions have agreed to host it as an annual event on behalf of the high school, adding thank you to the participants and donors for their support.
