Muscular Dystrophy Canada names Trevor McVey Fire Fighter of the Year Award

Muscular Dystrophy Canada has named a local North Shore man as Fire Fighter of the Year.

Trevor McVey, a resident of Nairn & Hyman Township who has many years of experience in fire fighting has been acknowledged by the charity for helping raise funds and awareness over the last several years having won the award on two other occasions, in 2009 and 2017.

Currently, he is a member of Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s National Fire Fighter Relations Committee, Ontario Provincial Lead Chair, and MD Chairperson for the Nairn & Hyman Fire Department.

In addition to his previous contributions with the Espanola Fire Department, as a firefighter, he led a successful annual ATV Drive, the most recent one was held last weekend, which raised $15,900 to go towards research carried out by the national foundation.
