The Seventh Annual Joe’s Quad Run in Nairn Centre held on Saturday, June 21st was a huge success. Co-organizer, Stephanie Gunson, says the run is held in memory of Joel Austin, her step father; a caring man who had worked at EB Eddy and was a volunteer fire fighter with the Nairn and Hyman Fire Department. She adds he loved to go out atving, so when he passed away November 25 2007 due to heart disease, it was decided to host a quad run in his memory while raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. This year, the run included 18 quads, three side-by-sides and an awesome run to Fairbanks Lodge. Gunson adds the big winner is the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which will receive $727 in memory of Joel Austin, over $100 more than last year’s event. She also says thank you to all those who volunteered, helped out or took part to make it such a success.
