An Espanola woman who won an award with her artwork on raising awareness about murdered and missing Indigenous women has won more accolades. Christi Belcourt, who is Metis, is this year’s recipient of the Ontario Arts Council Aboriginal Arts Award. The council will award Belcourt 10-thousand dollars at a July 30th event at the Art Gallery of Ontario which includes the unveiling of her latest work. The art council award recognizes significant contributions Aboriginal people make to the arts in Ontario.
