There was some concern about the tenders received for redesigning a parking area for the new splash pad near Sherwood Park in Espanola.
To allow for a turn-around and expanded parking, council tendered out the work with a $86,000 price budget for it, but of the four tenders, the least expensive was nearly double at nearly $145,000.
Mayor Jill Beer says the cost of everything has been going up and that it would be unlikely that the town could get the work done for a lesser price.
She adds the money is coming from reserves so it will not affect the municipal budget.
In the end, council voted to accept the bid of nearly $145,000 from J.L. Richards.
The site plan and work are to begin as soon as possible with the opening for the splash pad set for early July.
