Work continues on Little Current Swing Bridge

Northeastern Manitoulin & the Islands Mayor Al McNevin says he has finally received official word on the work being done on the Swing Bridge in Little Current.

The mayor says he received correspondence from the Ministry of Transportation’s northeast director Herb Villneff stating the current maintenance work being conducted on the approaches to the bridge is nearing completion.

McNevin adds, however, following the completion of that work, overnight maintenance to the bridge deck will commence.
He says it is anticipated that the deck work will last about a month, weather permitting, adding the bridge will be closed to traffic for 15 minutes on the hour, between the hours of 8 pm and 5 am, Monday to Friday.

McNevin adds he has been assured that a 15-minute timetable will be adhered to and signage will be placed in both directions to notify motorists.
