Stationary Holiday parade planned for Espanola

A stationary parade in Espanola is being planned as a safe return to the annual festivity.

Town Mayor Jill Beer says last year’s parade was cancelled due to COVID and some municipalities held stationary parades boasting great success, and hopes the concept will be embraced by people here.

A stationary parade features floats stationed by various participants throughout the community, explains Beer.

She adds a map of the float sites will be published and families can either walk or drive by the floats between 7:00 to 9:00pm on Saturday November 27th.

Beer says businesses are encouraged to set up their floats at their businesses and not-for profit groups are asked to set up in front of their organizations adding anyone unable to find a location to park their float is encouraged to call the Program Manager at the Complex for assistance.

Registration is free and prizes will be awarded in the categories of Best Business, Best Community Spirit & Judges Choice.

The deadline for registration is November 8th.

Registration forms available at espanola.ca, the Town Office and Recreation Complex.
