It looks like residents in a Blind River neighbourhood will be keeping their playground after all.
Some 53 residents of the Shirvon/Longview children’s playground in the Pronto West subdivision in Blind River signed a petition opposing the removal of playground equipment from their neighbourhood.
That petition was presented to council on Monday night stating the town wanted to dismantle the playground equipment to create more green space, but the residents strongly object adding there are not enough places for children to play, especially since the playground has been part of the neighbourhood for over 70 years.
The petition also asked council to upgrade and add new equipment to make the space a better one for the kids.
Council agreed and has asked CAO Katie Scott to prepare a report costing out the equipment upgrades for the August meeting.
