Support is growing for a grieving Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation mother who recently lost her daughter.
Charlene Ann Owl’s daughter, Charisse, died in November from an overdose.
A mother of four children, she was only 28.
Charlene announced a $2,000 reward earlier this month for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual that sold the heroin, which led to her death.
She says the reward is now $3,000.
She is also meeting with Chief and Band Council on April 6th to discuss the seriousness of the opioid epidemic in the community.
Supporters are also assisting her in organizing a Prayer Walk on April 17th.
Charlene says the walk will start at ten am in front of the residence where her daughter died and wind its way to the Catholic Church and then the ballpark where a memorial billboard will be unveiled.
She adds several supporters are also posting the signs in their yards and businesses in support of her initiative to fight the epidemic that took her daughter from her.
