A virtual event will take place this for participants in the Daughters of the Vote.
Nickel Belt MPP France GĂ©linas says 338 delegates from every federal riding in Canada have been selected to attend a political leadership summit in Ottawa in March.
However, she says because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Daughters of the Vote Program will take place entirely online.
Gélinas says the program is an initiative of Equal Voice that began in 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote in Canada.
She says it provides exposure to the participants to Canada’s political institutions, the men and women serving in them, and assists them in their decision as to whether they will participate in the political process no matter what level of government, be it municipally, provincially or federally.
The program is funded by the Department for Women and Gender Equality.
