Elliot Lake city council approves property sale to local foodbank

The Elliot Lake Food Bank will have larger headquarters and a more accessible loading area, thanks to Elliot Lake council.

A bylaw was tabled and passed unanimously by council on Monday night to sell the property at 46 Ontario Avenue to the food bank, which is overseen by the local churches in the city.

Council agreed to sell the property for $2.

In other news, Amy Sonnenburg was welcomed by council and officially appointed as city treasurer at the meeting.

Sonnenburg spent the last several years working for the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board before assuming her new position.
