Health facilities on Manitoulin will benefit from annual placements of medical students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. That’s the result of the island becoming part of the community clerkship program under the school. Each year from September to April, two third-year students will be placed at health sites on the island. Those include the Gore Bay Medical Centre as well as the Family Health Teams in Manitoulin Central, Northeastern Manitoulin and Assiginak. Placements will also take place at the Manitoulin Health Centre.
