The new sub-division in the south end of Espanola has its’ first street, but no name.
At last week’s council meeting, members were asked to consider Yusko Crescent as the new street name.
The Yuskos have been a long-established family in Espanola and with the model home now ready, a street name is needed for hard services such as hydro billing.
However, councilors Bill Foster and Ken Duplessis said the RR decision couldn’t be made without consulting the community services committee under procedural bylaw.
Mayor Jill Beer decided to move ahead with the motion anyway, but council rejected it.
Town CAO Cynthia Townsend says a special meeting has been called for tomorrow (Tuesday) to have the committee review the request.
If they agree with the request, another special meeting of council will have to be called to approve the name and allow the developer’s to move forward with the legal matters requiring a street name.
Tuesday’s meeting is at 4:00pm in council chambers and is open to the public.
