Students and staff from several area schools wore purple for a special reason.
Students and staff at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River as well as at Rainbow Board schools wore purple Wednesday as part of Ontario Dress Purple Day.
The purpose of this day, spearheaded by the Children’s Aid Societies of Ontario, is to raise awareness about the rights of children and youth to safety and well-being.
It also focuses on the responsibility of adults and community services to help children, youth and families who need support.
