The City of Elliot Lake will be hosting a mock emergency exercise and are forewarning the public so they are not alarmed.
The city maintains a Community Emergency Response Plan in order to be prepared for large scale emergencies, which could require a coordinated effort by the municipal and other emergency response parties.
City CAO, Dan Gagnon, says a mock scenario exercise will take place on Wednesday, September 26th and will entail some field deployment of emergency vehicles.
He adds the Community Control Group will be assembled in a tabletop exercise to review input from the field and conduct the mock emergency response.
In order to maintain the integrity of the exercise, the scope and nature of the emergency is being withheld, but largely involves BHP/Rio Algom Limited and Denison Environmental employees.
