The North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHINs) has two new board members – Lorraine Dupuis of Sudbury and Cheryl St-Amour from Timmins.
The two were appointed for a three-year term starting through a provincial Order-in-Council.
“The North East LHIN Board is pleased to welcome exceptional Northerners who bring diverse skills and backgrounds, “said Board Chair Ron Farrell. “Lorraine brings a wealth of knowledge from her work in the education system as well as previous governance experience and Cheryl’s expertise in financial management, accounting, and quality improvement will be an asset to the Board in our efforts to help build a more patient-focused health care system in Northeastern Ontario.”
As a long-time resident of Sudbury, Dupuis is a retired teacher of 33 years with the Sudbury Separate School Board. She has been active on numerous Boards and committees, including ten years as a Member of both Science North and the Ontario Film Boards.
“Health care is a vital public service that affects all of us,” said Dupuis. “I’m looking forward to beginning my work with the NE LHIN Board so that we can increase the coordination and sustainability of the system for the benefit of all Northerners.”
St-Amour, a Certified Management Accountant, currently works as a Plant Systems Support Manager for Ontario Power Generation. She has extensive past experience working in a variety of managerial roles in both the public and private sectors. Her past positions include Northern Development Advisor with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, Director of Business Development and Retention with the Timmins Economic Development Corporation, and Director of Corporate Development with the JPL Group of Companies.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as a NE LHIN Board Director and am looking forward to working collaboratively with the governing members of other health service providers across our region,” said St. Amour.
FACTS:
The role of LHIN Board of Directors is to oversee, advise and govern the strategic directions and priorities of the LHIN.
Board Members are appointed by an Order-In-Council through a process administered by the Public Appointments Secretariat, for a term of up to three years, and may be re-appointed for an additional term or terms to a maximum of six years.
The Chair and Board Members are appointed based on their expertise, experience, leadership skills and the needs of the LHIN and are accountable, through the Chair, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the LHIN’s use of public funds and for its results in the local health system.
The NE LHIN Board now includes: Ron Farrell, Chair (Sundridge), Denis Bérubé (Moonbeam), John Febbraro (Sault Ste. Marie), Mark Palumbo (Sudbury), Betty Stone (Temiskaming Shores), Kim Morris (Sudbury), Petra Wall (Spring Bay, Manitoulin), Anne Stewart (Pointe Au Baril), Lorraine Dupuis (Sudbury), and Cheryl St-Amour (Timmins).
