New park enhancements being considered for Espanola

With respondents to a 2016 Oracle Poll carried out in Espanola indicating the lack of activities for youth being the top third priority, several parties are coming together to enhance a local park.

In a report to council, Espanola Economic Development Officer, Cheryl Kennelly, states The Espanola Family Health Team and Sudbury Public Health have been talking to United Way about partnering with the town for a new dirt pump track for youngsters.

Since Domtar Mill employees regularly contribute to United Way, the organization is keen to invest in Espanola on a project with long-standing benefits.

The United Way would be responsible for the installation of the track and in return, would ask the park be re-named “Wolves United Park” since a funding sources is the 50/50 draw with the Sudbury Wolves.

It has been suggested that Sherwood Park may be the ideal location.

The proposal will be to council tonight.
