Team Blake will take on the Espanola Express/Eagles alumni in a fundraiser to help a local boy’s family.
All proceeds will assist Blake Bond of Espanola and his family as he battles acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, at Cheo Children’s Hospital in Ottawa.
Blake began intense treatment this past Tuesday and at some point will also need to go to Toronto for a bone marrow transplant.
In September of 2014 at the age of 5, Blake was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the blood.
On his mom’s 30th birthday this January, Blake rang the bell at Cheo declaring himself cancer free.
However, Blake received the new diagnosis on February 28, a week after his ninth birthday.
The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Espanola Recreational Complex starting at 6:00pm.
