The Sheshegwaning Quarry on Manitoulin Island has a chance to sell its block stones across Canada and internationally. It’s all thanks to a federal grant worth almost $250,000 to help the Sheshegwaning First Nation grow the business. Chief Dean Roy says by developing a business and marketing plan the quarry can become part of a larger playing field. In addition to the marketing and business plans, the money will help the First Nation test and prepare the quarry material.
