Blind River man sentenced for explosion

A Blind River man will spend time in jail after an explosion he caused almost cost him his life.

Sixty-four-year-old Gary Ross Warbrick of Blind River was sentenced to six months in jail by Sault Ste. Marie Superior Court Justice, Michael Varpio.

Varpio imposed the sentence this week after Warbrick admitted he blew up his apartment trying to make hash oil from marijuana in December, 2014.

Warbrick pleaded guilty on May 31st to disregard to human life and production of a controlled substance.

Varpio noted Warbrick did not make the hash oil to sell, but for his own use.
Warbrick must also give a DNA sample and cannot possess a weapon for 10 years
