Espanola council wants an extension of the delay for approving or rejecting a switch from municipal to Ontario Provincial Police.
Councillor Bill Foster says there are a couple of reasons why … including a delay in information from the OPP.
He says they waited four months for one crucial number, the interim police chief will be gone in February and they still have to meet with the local police and the public, which would take them right into March.
Council approved a bylaw last night to ask the OPP for a two-month extension to the March 22nd deadline.
No final decision to go with OPP or stay with the Espanola Police Service has been made.
