Police are asking the public to be aware of ice conditions following a near tragedy in McGregor Bay.
Manitoulin OPP and Anishnaabe Police as well as the Birch Island Fire Department were called out this past Saturday shortly after noon about two people going through the ice near McGregor Bay.
The driver and passenger of a snowmobile had managed to swim to shore and get help.
The OPP remind the public “no ice is safe ice” and seek local knowledge if you chose to ride on frozen waterways.
