The Town of Espanola will be asking for an extension to the deadline to switch from municipal police to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Council will meet tonight to get a bit of an update on the OPP.
Town CAO Cynthia Townsend and staff have been focused on the myriad of details involved in the possible transition and she says she will be asking for an extension of the March deadline.
The initial agreement stated the town had six months to make its decision as to whether it would move forward with the switch or not.
Tonight’s meeting at 6:30pm is open to the public and will provide a short update on the OPP costing, as well as budgetary items.
