The Espanola Royal Canadian Legion has provided some funding to assist in the purchase of hospital equipment for a Manitoulin Island facility.
Branch #39 President, Gary MacPherson and Dan Kryzanowski , the chair of the Poppy Committee, presented a $1,000 cheque to Wendy Gauthier, a representative of the Manitoulin Centennial Manor Board of Management.
Gauthier thanked the legion for the support, which will go towards purchasing patient lifts for the nursing home.
She added four veterans and eight spouses of veterans live at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor and at any given time 10-15 % of the residents are from the Massey-Espanola area.
