Sudbury bribe trial on break until October 24th

The Sudbury by-election bribe trial is on hold for about two weeks.  The Canadian Press says the trial resumes October 24th at which time the judge will decide whether or not to dismiss the case.  Sudbury businessman Gerry Lougheed Junior and Pat Sorbabra, the Premier’s former chief-of-staff, are charged with bribery under the Ontario Elections Act.  It’s alleged they offered a job or appointment to a former candidate in return for not seeking the Liberal nomination in a 2015 by-election.  Both deny the claim and the defense says the Crown Attorney has failed to prove its case.
