The days of freely having a fire pit in your backyard in Elliot Lake could be coming to an end. After getting numerous letters from residents about the uncomfortable conditions the fire pits create because of smoke and odours, council will discuss restricting the practice. However, not everyone favours a ban. In addition to getting letters asking to ban backyard fire pits, council was also given an open letter from a group that supports the decades old practice. Tonight’s committee of the whole meeting begins at 6:00pm in the council chambers.
