In Espanola, a senior has fallen victim to the bank scam and has lost $4,400. Police say the senior was called by a fake investigator claiming he was trying to catch a bank teller who was stealing from the bank. The phony investigator convinced the senior to withdraw $4,400 which would be used to trap the teller. The senior handed over the cash to the investigator and never saw him again. Espanola police say this is not the first time a local resident has been victimized by the bank scam. They say banks never ask their customers to help them with investigations by withdrawing money from their accounts.
